Girls in the World of Fashion: Carly Maddox

Hey Everyone!!!!!!!!! How's it going? 5 days you guys! 5 days until Christmas break! Which means this last week of school is the dreaded finals week. I'm right there at high B's in most of my classes, so I have to do really well in the finals, so I can get straight As. I really hope I can do it!
Anyway, I got the amazing opportunity to interview Carly Maddox from carlymaddox.blogspot.com! You probably know who Carly is if you read Seventeen Magazine, but for those of you who don't know her, she is a member of Seventeen Magazine's Style Council 2013.
So here's the interview!!!!!!!!!

IA:  What did you do for your 18th birthday?
CM: This totally wasn't planned for my birthday, but I was flown up to NYC for my first time to do a photo shoot with Keds and Seventeen Magazine for their brave campaign, and the day of the photo shoot just happened to fall on my birthday! So I spent all day in the studio with a lovely view and lovely people doing such a fun shoot, and it was truly the best birthday ever. They also surprised me with cute little mini cupcakes, which made it even more perfect!

IA: What are your plans after high school (college, etc.)?
CM: I would really love to move up to NYC and study at FIT. It's truly my dream to attend fashion school in my dream city, and the Fashion Institute of Technology just seems like the best school ever!

IA: Do you have any siblings?
CM: Nope! I'm an only child! I'm very grateful for that, also!

IA: How close are you with your family (on a scale of 1 to 10)?
CM: 10! We all have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day we're all so close and I love my family more than anything, they're really just the best!

IA: How did you start blogging?
CM: I've always loved fashion, and when I heard about sites like Lookbook and Chictopia I really got addicted to getting on them everyday and looking at all of the different looks, and then I did further exploring onto some blogs (Flashes of Style was my first blog obsession, Bonnie just really has such a nice style) and seeing how these fashion blogs inspire people like me was just so inspiring in itself, so I thought it would be cool to try it out and maybe even give people some inspiration as well.

IA: Favorite color?
CM: Red!

IA: Favorite show? movie? book?
CM: My favorite show is Sex and the City; favorite movie is Edward Scissorhands; and favorite book is Catcher in the Rye.

IA: What beauty product do you wear the most?
CM: I wear a lot of mascara and lipstick...I just really don't know what I'd do without them!

IA:What is your favorite makeup brand?
CM: I'm not really big on makeup, so I don't have a favorite brand!

IA: What is your favorite clothing store?
CM: I love H&M and Forever 21, and I have an obsession with ModCloth as well,  but I just dream of everything I see from Kate Spade, but unfortunately, I can't afford anything from there!

IA: In three words, describe your style.
CM: Classic, versatile, girly

IA: What do you think you'll be doing 10 years from now?
CM: There's no telling, but hopefully I'm in New York being a stylist or working for a magazine!

IA: How did you become a member of Seventeen Magazine's Style Council 2013?
CM: One day I just checked my inbox and saw an email from Seventeen asking me to be a part of their style council. It's truly been so amazing being on the style council this year, and I'm still partially in shock about it, haha!

IA: What do you think makes a good fashion and beauty blogger?
CM: I used to hate this about myself, but I think it's good that I have a "versatile" style, I guess you could call it. I feel something different with my personal style each day, and I can't stick to one style, no matter how hard I try. I went through a menswear-inspired phase for a year, then a very sweet, girly, knit sweaters with dresses and oxfords type of thing for a while, then a hippie boho rocker phase for a little while. Right now, I am in love with the more urban, New Yorker style. But, I've just realized I have an appreciation for all styles, and I love experimenting with each style every day and mixing it up a bit. I think it's good that I expand my knowledge and appreciate all styles, instead of just liking one thing and sticking to that.

IA: What advice do you have for girls who want to start their own fashion and beauty blog?
CM: I have a lot of tips, but my most important one would be just to keep up with your blog regularly, and post what you want, not what others are posting. Your blog is your unique documentation of what you think fashion or beauty is, or your lifestyle, or what ever you're posting about, so as long as you feel confident in your content and you give it a unique touch, you will surely attract many readers! People are always looking for something new and fresh to look at and read, not something that just seems like everything else, so it's up to you to make sure you're blog has content that is truly yours!

Well, that's all of the questions I asked her! Did you like it? Let me know if you want to see more interviews like this! Be sure to comment!
Thank You!
