Bible Talk: Good Friday

Hey Everyone! You may not know this, but today is Good Friday, the day many years ago that Jesus was crucified. So, today's Bible Talk is going to be about Jesus' crucifixion.

A few verses about Jesus' crucifixion that I would like to share are Matthew 27:27-31, which say, 27 "Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around Him. 28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt in front of Him and mocked Him. "Hail, king of they Jews!" they said. 30 They spit on Him, and took the staff and struck Him on the head again and again. 31 After they had mocked Him, they took off the robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to crucify Him."

A staff is a wooden cane that they used to walk with in Bible times. That means that Jesus was beaten with this wooden cane multiple times. Something else that wasn't included in these few verses above were that the soldiers attached sharp spear-like materials to a cane and beat the flesh off of Jesus. I know that this sounds too brutal to be true, but it really is. Jesus was crucified for you and I because He loves us so much.
